The Work Study Program provides thousands of meaningful on-campus paid work opportunities for students at the University of Toronto. The Work Study program aims to provide students with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge, strengthen their skills, explore careers and understand how their academic studies translate to career possibilities.
The Work Study Program Officer will be responsible for providing high quality customer service in the administration of the Work Study program and in support of staff, faculty, librarians and instructors who wish to develop and submit opportunities for students.
Key responsibilities include planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities, conducting post-event evaluation and analysis, tracking program metrics, facilitating educational workshops and seminars, developing strategies that maximize outreach to students, advising students on career-related matters and providing program development and administrative support for a large-scale work-integrated learning program.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in a university career centre, placement, co-op or recruitment setting, developing and maintaining relationships, including active outreach.
- Minimum three (3) years of program development experience, in particular developing learning outcomes, reflection activities, and evaluation tools.
- Minimum three (3) years of facilitation experience, delivering workshops in group settings.
- Experience supporting students one-to-one through advising or coaching.
- Experience managing effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders (including employers, alumni, students, staff and faculty).
- Broad knowledge of labour market trends.
- Solid understanding of student and career development theories and in particular, and experiential learning models.
- Proven ability to handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously and independently prioritize own work flow.
- Strong relationship cultivation, building and management skills.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills. Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills to cope with multiple projects and events occurring within short and overlapping time periods.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Strong written communication skills (e.g. report writing; drafting content for communications materials) and the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with a diverse university student population in order to meet the needs of students.
