Manager Patient Care Services
<p>The Solgen facility includes a 100 bed Secure Treatment Unit (STU) to service the needs of incarcerated offenders with mental illness; and the STU has been designed a Schedule 1 facility under the Mental Health Act by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>Duties</u>:</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><ul><li>Accountability for overall clinical operations and safety of two care units, and as required for the four units of the STU. Provide coverage for the FTU inpatient units.</li><li>Provide leadership to mentor, collaborate and problem solve issues as they arise on care units,</li><li>Provide supervision and collaboration with Nurses assigned to Programming, Team Lead, Clinical Evaluation, Ward Clerks and line staff, to assist them in their roles and responsibilities,</li><li>Ensure standards of care are adhered to the care units,</li><li>Facilitate communications with clinical staff from all care units to ensure optimal care is provided,</li><li>Collaborate with Director Patient Care Services to ensure coordination and integration of clinical and managerial practices,</li><li>Communicate with stakeholders aimed at meeting health care needs of target population.</li><li>Participate in development of policies, processes, objectives, standards and procedures to facilitate day-to-day operations</li><li>Participate in efficient and effective assignments and utilization of human and fiscal resources.</li><li>Participate in annual staff development priorities, develop and deliver educational and training support.</li><li>Ensure application of applicable legislation and contracts.</li><li>Participate in scheduling according to patient needs, hospital contracts and policy.</li><li>Participate in development of quality improvement, evaluation, and accreditation plans.</li><li>Develop and report monthly clinical and contract outcome indicators for clinical areas.</li><li>Daily assignment of staff to meet clinical service requirements.</li><li>Facilitate development of programs and services identified in service agreement.</li><li>Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG, and Standard operating Procedures of the Secure Treatment Unit.</li><li>Ensures a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free Workplace policy.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><u>Qualifications:</u></strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Baccalaureate degree in Allied Health or Nursing or acceptable combination of education and experience dependent on program area.</li><li>Current registration and members in good standing with applicable regulatory college preferred.</li><li>Current CPR Certification.</li><li>Related experience, knowledge, and skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and as a team</li><li>Ability to manage conflicting priorities/multiple demands</li><li>Demonstrated ability to problem-solve/critical thinking</li><li>Ability to provide leadership within teams</li><li>Ability to work with a variety of professionals as a member of an interdisciplinary team</li><li>Ability to assess complex needs, to determine interventions, prioritize services required and implement solutions</li><li>Knowledge of participatory leadership principles and demonstrated ability to implement</li><li>Knowledge of legislated acts e.g. Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act etc.</li><li>English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual is an asset.</li></ul>
