<strong>Title:</strong> Legal Student Intern (Summer 2026)<br><br><strong>Reports To:</strong> Senior Legal Counsel<br><br><strong>Position Summary:</strong> The Legal Student Intern will be responsible for assisting the Senior Legal Counsel in matters relating to corporate, commercial, securities, and real estate transactions and compliance with applicable laws.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li> Assist the Senior Legal Counsel with the overall management of the legal function and legal affairs of CAPREIT and its affiliates </li><li> Respond to a variety of legal requests from internal clients, communicating legal concepts to the business in a manner that is easy to understand </li><li> Work with the Senior Legal Counsel to support the Investment Department and the Chief Investment Officer to negotiate, manage, and close real estate transactions </li><li> Provide support to the Senior Legal Counsel as needed to review and draft contracts to support the operations and corporate services departments </li><li> Work with corporate service departments to standardize contracts and letters of engagement and respond to queries on an ad hoc basis with the guidance of Senior Legal Counsel </li><li> Provide support with drafting template notices, releases, and other standard documents and responding to queries on an ad hoc basis for the operations teams </li><li> Assist with drafting and review of commercial agreements, including professional services, marketing partnerships, and business and technology agreements </li><li> Conduct legal research as needed and prepare memoranda </li><li> Provide corporate secretarial assistance, as required (i.e. assist in preparing board materials, coordinating regulatory filings etc.) </li><li> Other duties as may be required <br><br></li></ul><strong>Skills & Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li> Enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of law school </li><li> Excellent English verbal and written communication skills- must be able to write clearly and concisely </li><li> The ability to speak French and or Dutch would be an asset </li><li> Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook </li><li> Proven ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and able to adjust to changing needs of the department </li><li> Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple priorities effectively and with conflicting deadlines </li><li> Strong planning and organizational skills </li><li> High attention to detail </li><li> Strong analytical, critical thinking and creative thinking skills </li><li> Client-service oriented, including strong interpersonal and relationship building skills </li><li>Please ensure to submit a cover letter along with your resume**</li></ul>
