Front End / Housekeeper (General application - future season)

This is a general application for the Housekeeper / Front End role at GP. While there isn’t a specific opening right now, we will keep your application on file for when there is an opportunity!

We are looking for help for our housekeeping/front end position at our remote off-grid lodge.

We are planning a full season of Scuba Diving trips at our lodge, God's Pocket Resort. 'GP' is nestled in a protected bay on a remote island off the northern tip of Vancouver Island.

GP is open for diving and kayaking trips between mid-March and the end of October.

The Housekeeping/Front End position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Housekeeping: We usually house 13 guests in double occupancy rooms. This means that we have 7-8 rooms with ensuite bathrooms that need to be cleaned and cared for on a daily basis. Rooms get a touch up every day and are fully cleaned between trips on change over days, which occur once a week.

Front End: Helping the chef with food service, typically 3 meals a day:

  • Breakfast (sit down)

  • Lunch (either sit down or packed for the boat)

  • Dinner (sit down)

This typically means cleaning the dining room and setting the table, helping with plating, carrying food out to guests, making sure they have everything they need for the meal, and taking dishes back to the dish pit.

Being in charge of dishes (we do them all by hand) and keeping the common areas clean for the guests with regularly scheduled cleaning.

Helping with the small gear store - maintaining a nice layout, helping guests with sizes, and showing them how to complete their purchase using our online store.

You will be working on a small team in a remote, off-grid lodge, so everyone is asked to chip in beyond their specific role, at times. This can be helping the DM, Captain, or Chef with various challenges that pop up – in return they will be helping you, too!

We work on a philosophy of getting everything prepped and done well in advance, to limit any last minute rush. It also makes it much easier to relax and enjoy the beautiful space between bouts of work!

We require that you have had the following experience:

Housekeeping experience in a multi-room property.

Off grid work experience at a lodge or camp within a small team.

Food Safe Level 1 (it is a short course that can also be taken prior to the job start).

Diving experience and interest is a big advantage, so you can share in the excitement of the guests’ activities.

Any knowledge or comfort you have of generators or off-grid systems is a great asset in this environment, as well.

COVID considerations

We require that everyone on the crew is vaccinated against COVID-19.

Compensation

The position is contract-based (for the time period of the season) and full-time for the duration of that contract. You will be entitled to a blended daily rate at the lodge, and you will have free room and board, as well. All tips from guests are split equally amongst the crew.
